Why does the Cosworth steering wheel in the Oreca look so much worse than in the Ligier? Why can I count the polygons on the mirrors of the Porsche Cup and GT3 car while the Megane from 2013 does have them in the right way? Why is the little fan in the Infinity not smooth, like the fan in the Nissan GT1? There are countless examples like these and I simply find no excuse for them, especialy as some of the stuff is payware. How hard is it to set a certain standard and follow it? Take alook at AC or ACC and it's pretty obvious that all cars are part of the same software. But I don't understand why some cars look terrific (Ferrari) and other cars look garbage. Yes, there are engine limitations that make it difficult to design the dashes compared to other softwares, as rF2 was created when dashes weren't as complex as they are today. Where do we spend the most time in racing sims? Yep, infront of the driver helmet.Īnd then comes the issue with quality control. Every sane person would first fix the obvious stuff. The best example is that they updated the helmets before adding PBR materials to the dashes and cockpits. "how much else in rF2 is half-baked like these dashes?" Now that's a rather unfair thing to say, of course, but it was my genuine first reaction in my head, and I can't believe I'd be the only one who would react along these lines.Ĭlick to expand.As much as I like rF2, I can't deny that there is a bit of a problem with a) priorities and b) consistent quality of the assets in the sim. and yet all-too-often I would see those terrible looking stretched fonts, too much bloom around the text, or fonts and dash layouts that look very little like the real car dashes (that many of us will have seen in ACC, for example). Many would be in cockpit view in an official DLC GT3 or GTE car. Before I had rF2 but was curious about it, I'd watch videos of the game to learn more about it. IMO these dash displays can matter lots for first impressions (by new and potential users). I guess other things have been higher priority.
